It was a beautiful inshore and by the sounds of it, it was just as nice offshore as well. Venturing out to the Baltimore Canyon was the ‘Osprey’ catching 23 dolphin and releasing 1 blue marlin and 2 white marlin, the ‘Boss Hogg’ catching 60 dolphin and releasing 1 white marlin, the ‘Reel Chaos’ catching 27 dolphin and releasing 1 white marlin. Heading to the Poormans Canyon today was the ‘Zipper’ catching a 66 lb True Albacore, 7 dolphin, and released 2 white marlin. Venturing by themselves to the Rockpile was the ‘Blood Money’ catching 30 dolphin and releasing 1 blue marlin and 4 white marlin. The remainder of the fleet ventured out to the Wilmington Canyon and it didn’t disappoint! The ‘Tighten Up’ returned to the dock with 2 dolphin, 1 long fin tuna, 1 yellowfin, and 1 white marlin release, the ‘Buckshot’ catching 3 dolphin, 2 yellowfin, and 6 white marlin, and lastly the ‘Fish On’ catching 3 yellowfin and releasing 2 white marlin.

It was a great end to the weekend here at the marina with many of our boats heading out after being stuck on the dock for a few days.  Most of the fleet was fishing in the Baltimore Canyon and found success there.  First back to the dock was the ‘Osprey’ returning with 30 dolphin and 2 white releases.  The Primary Search had a great overnight trip returning with 2 white releases, (1 harvested), 2 yellowfin, 1 wahoo, 3 golden tiles, 5 blue line tiles and finally releasing a mako.  The ‘Marli’ had 60 dolphin, 1 yellowfin, and 2 white releases.  Reel Chaos had 5 white releases, Whisky Kilo had 60 dolphin and finally the ‘Fish On’ had 1 white release and 50 dolphin.  Our last few boats fished in the Poor Man’s canyon.  The ‘C-boys’ had 4 dolphin and 3 white releases and the ‘Griffin’ had 6 white releases, 1 dolphin, and 1 yellowfin.  The weather looks good for tomorrow so a lot are planning to go out and try again tomorrow.

September continues to provide for some great fishing days for the fleet.  The Baltimore canyon was the grounds of choice for  our boats today.  The crew of the ‘Osprey’ returned before lunchtime with 34 dolphin.  The ‘Marli’ had 60 dolphin and the ‘Boss Hogg’ had 60 dolphin, 2 yellowfin, and 3 white releases.  The ‘Reel Chaos’ had 20 dolphin and 2 White releases.  Next we had the ‘Buckshot’ with 3 dolphin and 5 white releases.  The ‘Tighten Up’ had 2 white releases.  Finally we had the crew of the ‘No Quarter’ return with four white releases, some dolphin and a wahoo.  The Challenge cup kicks off tomorrow so it looks like most of our crews are fishing their first day tomorrow, so stay tuned!

It was another beautiful September day here at Sunset Marina. The entire fleet ventured to the Baltimore Canyon, which resulted in a great day for all the crews. Returning to the dock first was the ‘Osprey’ catching 57 dolphin and releasing 1 white marlin, followed by the ‘Marli’ catching 60 dolphin and releasing 3 white marlin, the ‘C-Boys’ had a great day catching 5 dolphin and releasing 6 white marlin, the ‘Reel Chaos’ with a plethora of species including 4 dolphin, 1 yellowfin, 1 wahoo, and releasing 5 white marlin, the ‘D.A. Sea releasing 7 white marlin, the ‘No Quarter’ catching 1 wahoo and releasing 8 white marlin, and lastly the ‘Fish On’ releasing 6 white marlin.

With a gorgeous day inshore and offshore a few boats in the fleet ventured out in search of the fish. Heading to the Poormans Canyon today was the ‘Osprey’ catching 1 white marlin and 60 dolphin, the ‘Reel Chaos’ catching 35 dolphin, and the ‘Griffin’ releasing 2 white marlin. Venturing out to the Baltimore Canyon was the ‘Marli’ catching 60 dolphin and releasing 1 white marlin, the ‘Cabana’ catching 3 yellowfin and releasing 2 white marlin, and lastly the ‘Boss Hogg’ catching 60 dolphin and 1 yellowfin. Hopefully the bite keeps up!

After a quiet two days on the docks dealing with and recovering from the outskirts of Dorian it was nice to return to a normal routine day at the marina.  We had a few boats head out hoping to see the return of the good bite.  They most definitely were not let down!  First back to the dock was the crew of the ‘Osprey’ returning with 67 dolphin from the Washington Canyon.  Next we had the ‘Marli’ return from the Baltimore canyon with 60 dolphin.  Fishing alongside them was the crew of the ‘Primary Search’ returning with 20 dolphin and a white release.  The ‘Cabana’ had 14 dolphin, a white release and a yellowfin.  The ‘Fish On’ came home from the Wilmington with 27 dolphin and 2 white releases.  Also in the Wilmington was the ‘DA Sea’ who had 6 white releases.  Finally was the crew of the ‘Roll Groove’ with 4 white releases.  Looks like it is going to be another great day offshore tomorrow with more boats heading out to see what they can catch so we will keep you posted!

Another great September day here at the marina!  While most of the fleet is keeping an eye on Dorian, the September bite continues to have them with their fingers crossed that it will push offshore.  The boats that headed out today were not disappointed once again all coming back with successful trips.  First back to the dock was the “Marli” who returned from the Baltimore with their limit of tile fish, limit of dolphin and a white release.  Next we had the “Grande Pez” fishing in the Norfolk returning with 2 yellowfin and a white release.  The rest of the fleet fished in the Wilmington Canyon.  The “Pumpin Hard” had 5 dolphin and a white release while the crew of the “Tighten Up” had 1 yellowfin and 8 dolphin.  Finally was the crew of the “Lucky Duck” with 8 dolphin and a white release.  We do have a few boats who are planning, weather permitting, to go out again tomorrow so stay tuned!

Dorian who?! Although the threat of Hurricane Dorian is knocking on our back door, our fleet continues to head out and return with impressive numbers! Heading to the Rockpile today was the ‘Buckshot’ releasing 4 white marlin, the ‘Brenda Lou’ catching 1 dolphin and releasing 1 white marlin, and lastly the ‘Grande Pez’ catching 7 dolphin and releasing 1 white marlin. Venturing to the Wilmington Canyon today was the ‘Marli’ catching an impressive 50 dolphin, the ‘Sea Hag’ releasing 8 white marlin, the ‘Lucky Duck’ catching 3 dolphin and releasing 1 white marlin, and lastly the ‘3 J’s’ releasing 11 white marlin. Heading to the Baltimore Canyon today was the ‘Reel Chaos’ catching 5 dolphin and releasing 1 white marlin and the ‘Roll Groove’ releasing 3 white marlin and 1 blue marlin.

The Poormans Canyon was the place to be today! After finding a few fish yesterday the crews set back out in the same spot today in hopes of the same result! Returning back to the dock first was the ‘Osprey’ catching 8 dolphin and releasing 1 white marlin, next the ‘Theresa Jean’ catching 10 dolphin and releasing 2 white marlin, the ‘Marli’ catching 10 dolphin and releasing 1 blue and 1 white marlin, the ‘White Lightning’ releasing 3 white marlin, the ‘Sea Hag’ catching 3 dolphin and releasing 3 white marlin, the ‘Voodoo Child’ releasing 2 white marlin, the ‘Par Five’ releasing 4 white marlin, the ‘Pumpin Hard’ releasing 6 white marlin and 1 blue marlin, the ‘D.A. Sea’ releasing 1 blue marlin and 1 white marlin, the ‘Tighten Up’ releasing 5 white marlin and 1 blue marlin, the ‘Lucky Duck’ releasing 3 white marlin, the ‘Gret’s 3 J’s’ releasing an impressive 10 white marlin, the ‘No Quarter’ releasing 2 blue marlin and 5 white marlin, the ‘Roll Groove’ releasing 5 white marlin, and lastly the ‘Tara Jessica’ releasing 3 white marlin. Fantastic day by all captains and crew!

Dare we say the September bite is upon us?! The fleet was a little more spread out today then they have been the past few days. Heading out to the Baltimore Canyon on their own was the ‘Marli’ catching 35 dolphin. Venturing out to the Wilmington Canyon was the ‘Whiskey Kilo’ returning with 40 dolphin and releasing 1 white marlin, the ‘Reel Chaos’ releasing 8 white marlin and catching 1 dolphin, the ‘Sea Hag’ releasing 7 white marlin and catching 3 dolphin and lastly the ‘Voodoo Child’ with an impressive day releasing 10 white marlin. Heading to the Poormans Canyon was the ‘C-Boys’ catching 3 dolphin and releasing 3 white marlin, the ‘Grande Pez’ catching 2 dolphin and releasing 2 white marlin, and lastly the ‘Fish On’ catching 3 dolphin and releasing 5 white marlin.

The weather looks great for tomorrow, as we expect a lot of crews to go after this fantastic white marlin bite. Stay tuned!

Boats in our fleet were finally able to get a good fishing day in after all this bad weather is finally behind us! The Washington and Poormans Canyon were the hot spots today, as the September bite is finally starting to pick up. Venturing in the direction of the Washington Canyon was the ‘Marli’ catching their limit of tile fish and 9 dolphin, the ‘Special Situation’ releasing 3 white marlin, the ‘Blue Eyes’ releasing 1 white marlin, the ‘Lucky Duck’ releasing 4 white marlin, and lastly the ‘Let It Ride’ releasing 4 white marlin as well. Heading to the Poormans Canyon today was the ‘Osprey’ catching 2 dolphin and releasing 1 blue and white marlin,the ‘Rascal’ releasing 2 white marlin, and lastly the ‘C Boys’ had a fantastic day catching 2 dolphin and releasing 4 white marlin, as well as releasing 1 blue marlin!

It’s hard to believe that the month of August is almost a wrap!  What a successful month it was with a great turnout for the White Marlin Open, the Poor Girls, and the Mid-Atlantic tournaments.  After a quiet few days on the docks with weather preventing our fleet from leaving , today we had a few boats head out to see what was out there.  The Poor Man’s Canyon was the fishing grounds of choice today for the first few boats.  First back to the dock was the crew of the “Marli” returning with 2 dolphin and a white release.  Next back we had the crew of the “Tighten Up” who released  5 whites and 1 blue marlin.  The crew of the “Let it Ride”  returned with 3 white releases. The crew of the “Roll Groove” returned from the 151 line, catching 1 wahoo, 3 yellowfin while also releasing 4 white marlin.  Finally we had the crew of the “No Quarter” come back from the Baltimore Canyon with 3 dolphin, 1 yellowfin and 3 white releases.  Looks like the weather will continue to improve and a few more boats are going to venture out again tomorrow!
