What a great way to end the weekend with so much activity and excitement on the docks for the final day of the Huk Big Fish Classic tournament. There were a ton of boats out fishing this weekend taking advantage of the fact the weather decided to cooperate for the first time in awhile. Not only did we see a fair amount fishing out of the marina for the tournament, but there were also a lot of boats out fun fishing trying to see what they could find. When the boats came back to the docks tonight there were flags flying in record numbers making for a welcome sight as we approach the busy month of August and all the upcoming tournament and events. Boats fishing out of the Washington today included the “Marli” returning with a limit of tilefish, the “Shotski” with 4 white releases, a blue marlin release and 5 mahi. The crew of the “Whisky Kilo” had 2 white releases and a yellowfin and the “Bar South” had 5 white releases, 2 blue marlin releases and 2 mahi. Our last boat fishing in the Washington was the “Special Situation” returning with 10 white releases and a blue marlin release. Our next few boats were fishing in the Baltimore Canyon. The team of the “Reel Chaos” returned with 5 mahi, 7 white releases, and a blue marlin release. The guys on the “Pumpin Hard” returned with 2 yellowfin, 1 mahi, and 4 white releases while the crew of the “Cabana” had 6 mahi and 6 white releases. Finally the “Fish On” returned to the dock with 10 white releases, a blue marlin release, and 1 mahi. The “Grande Pez” was our only boat reporting out of the Poormans today and they had 4 white releases, 2 yellowfin, and 1 mahi. The team of the “Sea Hag” was our only boat that reported from the Spencer today and they had 7 white releases, 4 yellowfin and 1 mahi. It was a day for the record books as many more boats returned with their outriggers full of release flags that also included the “Billfisher,” the “Reel Joy,” the “Max Bet,” the “Kilo Charlie,” and more. Congrats to all the winners in the Big Fish Classic tournament and to all on a great fishing weekend!
